Big Brothers Bushy Buckets Business Be Blooming

The business is going well. The kids have all 50 roses planted and under grow lights. They all look healthy and so far haven't been too much work past the initial few days. They have at least 13 of the 50 sold already (maybe more if Dad can't limit himself to 2 for his adorable wife).

Ode to my car

My car..... it's gone sniff sniff. I sold it today for a thousand dollars. It had 292,222 miles on it; my goal was 300,000- I WAS SOOO CLOSE! I can't say I feel good about letting it go; I've spent more one on one time with it than most of my family. I purchased it 2 months after Tucker was born; he's now 8. For a long time it was Karla and my only vehicle. We had some good talks on the drives back and forth to Anchorage. It's probably the best listener I've ever known. I've camped in it (ya it wasn't comfortable) gone fishing in it, even a lot of hunting trips up to Baldie.
The heater went out at the beginning of summer and I toughed it out until a February; even through the -30 degree cold snap. My neighbor ended up buying it; which I have a bag of mixed feelings about. It will pain me when he says, " Broke 300,000 in it!", but at the same time I hope it does because if it breaks down in the next few thousand miles I'd feel bad. It's been a great car; ironically consumer reports named the 1999 Ford Taurus "One to avoid".

Big Brothers Bushy Buckets Inc.

As a homeschool project the boys are running their own first business. We picked up 50 bareroot roses from Costco, soil, and buckets for planting. The kids are soaking, planting, and watering them now. The plan is to start them now so that they are nice, healthy, and beautiful looking by the time Mother's Day gets here. A few days before Mothers Day we are going to set up shop in a high traffic area and sell them. So far it has been a good experience, we have started a pre-order sheet for friends and family who would like to reserve one or two and the response has been great! I've been reading the emails that have been coming in to the boys for roses and they have been getting really excited.

My Aunt asked if they take credit card and Gunner said "Sure! That way I'll have two credit cards!" - he has a NRA membership "credit" card. Haha!

Where has our country gone?

You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot help small men by tearing down big men.
You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot lift the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer.
You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than your income.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatreds.
You cannot establish security on borrowed money.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away a man's initiative and independence.
You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves.
William J. H. Boetcker, 1916

1916........We had this knowledge 93 years ago and what have we done with it? Traded it in for ignorance and dependency. Will America ever return? William J.H. Boetcker said something else nearly 100 years ago.

"What a different world this would be if people would listen to those who know more and not merely try to get something from those who have more". William J. H. Boetcker

We've quit listening and are now entirely focused on getting. It's upsetting that we've taken years of sound logical knowledge and ran from it in search for something different for the sake of "change".

Wipeout

Here is a little taste of our sledding day. Sorry about the video being sideways, haven't figured how to change that around yet. By the way, that little black object 3/4 of the way down the hill is another sled. It took major sledding skills by my hubby to hit it straight on and continue on down to the bottom. Bravo DeLong, Bravo.

The Rapture

The kids like to take their clothes off and lay them out like this so that it is easier for them to find what they want to wear the next day. I think it is so funny to be walking around the house after they have gone to bed and find traces of what looks like the rapture happened here and there.
I wonder if that is what it will look like when the rapture happens. Or will our whole bodies be left behind and just our souls taken? I love that little things like this reminds us to be watching, waiting, and hoping on Christ's return.
